PRIME MINISTER VLAD FILAT AND THE PRESIDENT OF THE EUROPEAN INVESTMENT BANK (EIB), PHILIPPE MAYSTADT, TODAY SIGNED A 10-MILLION-EURO AGREEMENT ON THE REHABILITATION AND EXTENSION OF THE MOLDOVAN HEALTHCARE SYSTEM AND WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM

According to the agreement, the project will benefit six towns (Ceadir-Lunga, Floresti, Hincesti, Leova, Orhei and Soroca) and several villages (about 200,000 inhabitants in all). The project aims at providing quality drinking water to the population, by adequately collecting and treating water. It will enhance people's access to drinking water and will contribute to the reduction of pollution in the region.

REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA: HIT BY DEVASTATING FLOODINGS

Beginning late June and July 2010, heavy rains across the Republic of Moldova led to flooding along the Prut and Nistru rivers. As a consequence of these calamities, 60 villages were damaged, a series of dams crashed, leading to major floodings in the country.
